STUDY PERMIT CANADA

Canada is an attractive option for international students because of the all-round package it provides. Canada provides not only the opportunity of obtaining a high-quality education but also Canadian work experience after graduation and the ability to transition to permanent residence under certain Immigration programs available.

International Students Program

Under this program, a study permit is issued when a foreign national intending to study in Canada has been accepted to undertake a programme of study that is for a duration of more than six months at a designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada. The DLI issues a Letter of Acceptance to the applicant.

A foreign national with a study permit thereby has the responsibility to demonstrate that they are actively pursuing their studies by remaining enrolled and progressing towards the completion of a degree or diplomat every point in time during the academic year.

The DLI is required to report international students continued enrolment and academic status to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)

All Primary and Secondary Schools in Canada are automatically designated and therefore do not appear on the IRCC list of DLIs, but the international students must verify that their school of choice is Canada is designated and this can be found on the IRCC website.

The international student must meet the following criteria for a study permit

  1. Must be accepted for study at a Designated Learning institution
  2. Obtain a letter of acceptance from the institution
  3. Apply for a study permit and Temporary Resident Visa (TRV)or Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)
  4. Pay application fee and biometric fee
  5. Must not be inadmissible to Canada

Some applicants are study permit exempted; we will guide you on your eligibility when your application is received.
